Concrete Driveway and Patio Contractor in Guadalupe, AZ

Small town, careful compaction, concrete that stays put.

Maricopa County · River and wash alluvium

Guadalupe is the smallest town we serve, under one square mile and home to about 5,300 people, tucked between Tempe and Ahwatukee. About seven in ten of its homes are detached houses, the median built in 1993. Most driveways are short and straight, the yards are compact, and a lot of jobs here are a driveway replacement or a back patio for a family gathering.

About Guadalupe

Working in Guadalupe

Guadalupe is the smallest town we serve, under one square mile and home to about 5,300 people, between Tempe and Ahwatukee. About seven in ten of its homes are detached houses, the median built in 1993, and NRCS soil maps show mostly Valencia sandy loam, a river-laid soil that needs careful compaction.

NRCS soil maps show mostly Valencia sandy loam under the town, a river-laid soil that needs careful compaction. Leave it loose and the slab settles after the first wet season. We compact it in lifts and keep runoff off and out from under the slab. The Town of Guadalupe has its own permit rules, and our crew checks them for your job. Call (602) 773-1313.

The ground under Guadalupe

River and wash alluvium

Layered silt, sand and gravel laid down by the Salt River and the desert washes, across the flood plains and alluvial fans of the central and west Valley.

Most river and wash soil drains well and swells very little. Its problem is settlement: loose, dry silt and sand that was never compacted packs down when it gets wet or carries a load, so slabs sink at corners and along tire lines. Close to a wash, monsoon runoff can also cut away the soil at the edge of a slab.

How we build in Guadalupe

Compaction done in lifts at the right moisture, with loose or soft soil dug out and replaced, a thicker section anywhere a truck, trailer or RV will park, and grading that keeps runoff off the slab and out from under it. Washes and drainage easements stay open.

What fails here first

  • Ruts or cracks along the tire lines of a driveway
  • Gaps opening under the edge of a slab
  • Soil washed out along an edge after a monsoon storm
