Concrete Driveway and Patio Contractor in Glendale, AZ
From west Glendale tract homes to the newer north side.
Maricopa County · River and wash alluvium
Glendale covers a lot of ground. Near downtown the median home dates from the late 1970s, and many of those driveways are original and tired. Up north, around Arrowhead Ranch, the houses are mostly from the 1990s and the jobs lean toward backyard work. One of our posted jobs there is a pergola pad with step pads, about 900 square feet, planned around the yard's existing grade with an acrylic lace coating on top.

Glendale runs from older neighborhoods near downtown, where the median home dates from the late 1970s, to Arrowhead Ranch and the newer north side, built mostly in the 1990s. NRCS soil maps show river-laid loams under much of the city. NRCS soil maps show river-laid loams under much of the city. That soil drains well and settles if it was never compacted, so we compact the base in lifts and thicken the slab where trucks park. The City of Glendale has its own permit rules for driveway work at the street, and our crew checks them before the quote is final. Call (602) 773-1313 to set up a free estimate.
River and wash alluvium
Layered silt, sand and gravel laid down by the Salt River and the desert washes, across the flood plains and alluvial fans of the central and west Valley.
Most river and wash soil drains well and swells very little. Its problem is settlement: loose, dry silt and sand that was never compacted packs down when it gets wet or carries a load, so slabs sink at corners and along tire lines. Close to a wash, monsoon runoff can also cut away the soil at the edge of a slab.
Compaction done in lifts at the right moisture, with loose or soft soil dug out and replaced, a thicker section anywhere a truck, trailer or RV will park, and grading that keeps runoff off the slab and out from under it. Washes and drainage easements stay open.
