About Arrowhead Ranch

Working in Arrowhead Ranch

Arrowhead Ranch is the north Glendale community around Arrowhead Lakes and the Arrowhead country club, built mostly in the 1990s. One of our posted jobs here is a pergola pad with step pads, about 900 square feet, planned around the yard's existing grade.

The soil is river-laid silt and sand, which drains fine and settles if it was never compacted. We compact the base in lifts and set footings under each pergola post. Your HOA likely reviews exterior work, and we hand you a layout, finish and color to submit. The City of Glendale handles permits. A free on-site estimate comes with a printed quote before any work starts.

The ground under Arrowhead Ranch

River and wash alluvium

Layered silt, sand and gravel laid down by the Salt River and the desert washes, across the flood plains and alluvial fans of the central and west Valley.

Most river and wash soil drains well and swells very little. Its problem is settlement: loose, dry silt and sand that was never compacted packs down when it gets wet or carries a load, so slabs sink at corners and along tire lines. Close to a wash, monsoon runoff can also cut away the soil at the edge of a slab.

How we build in Arrowhead Ranch

Compaction done in lifts at the right moisture, with loose or soft soil dug out and replaced, a thicker section anywhere a truck, trailer or RV will park, and grading that keeps runoff off the slab and out from under it. Washes and drainage easements stay open.

What fails here first

  • Corners or joints sunk below the next panel
  • Ruts or cracks along the tire lines of a driveway
  • Gaps opening under the edge of a slab
  • Soil washed out along an edge after a monsoon storm

Arrowhead Ranch questions

Straight answers

Sam The Concrete Man North Phoenix repairs cracked driveways in Arrowhead Ranch, where many slabs date from the 1990s and sit on layered silt, sand and gravel. Irrigation water and settling soil under a thin spot in the base are frequent reasons a panel cracks or drops. We seal cracks on a sound slab, level a panel that sank in one piece by mudjacking or foam, or replace broken panels on a new base, and the estimate names the right repair.
