Concrete Driveway Contractor in Paradise Valley, AZ
Paradise Valley estate drives, set into Mummy Mountain rock.
Maricopa County · Desert foothills and rock
Almost every home in the Town of Paradise Valley is a detached, owner-occupied house, and many sit on big lots with long, curving drives and a motor court by the front door. Owners here plan their driveways as part of the house's design. We see full replacements during remodels, new drives for custom homes, guest parking courts and widening for more cars, finished in stamped, colored or exposed-aggregate concrete, often with borders and saw-cut patterns.
Typical Phoenix-area price$8–$12 / sq ftinstalled · free written estimateWhat Paradise Valley driveways need
Mummy Mountain sits inside the town limits, and lots on its slopes and below Camelback Mountain bring rock, grade and runoff into the plan. Solid rock can be close to the surface at one end of a drive and fill at the other, so we excavate until support is consistent, break out rock where the grade needs it and compact base in the low places. Water runs down these hillsides fast in a storm, and we shape the slab and add drainage above it to keep runoff off and out from under the concrete. Where the drive cuts into a slope, a retaining wall may be part of the job.
Permits come from the Town of Paradise Valley, and the crew checks what it requires for your drive and its connection to the street. Some neighborhoods also have their own review, and we prepare the layout, finish and color for it. Long drives and steep approaches need planning for the truck or a pump, and we look at that during the free on-site estimate. Call (602) 773-1313 for a printed quote.
What’s included
Every Paradise Valley driveway we pour starts with the ground under it, desert foothills and rock here, and the same list of work goes into the quote:
- New concrete driveways
- Driveway replacement and tear-out
- Extensions, widening and side parking
- RV and trailer parking pads
- Stamped, colored and exposed-aggregate finishes
- Aprons at the street, with the city permit where one is needed
- Caliche, fill and soil checked before forming
- Compacted aggregate base, deeper where you park heavy
- Slope that sends water away from the garage
- Control joints laid out before the pour
- A pour timed and cured for the heat
Desert foothills and rock
Sloped lots on and around the Valley’s mountains, where thin, stony soil sits on bedrock or hardpan: granite that weathers to coarse sand in the McDowells, older schist in the Phoenix Mountains, and volcanic rock in parts of the north Valley hills.
Excavation into the rock or hardpan, a thicker compacted base where the support is uneven, drainage that catches runoff above the slab and carries it around, and engineered retaining walls where the grade is cut. Walls on hillside lots often need a permit, and each city and town has its own rules, so we check yours.
What fails here first
- Edges undercut or washed out after storms
- Runoff and gravel washing across the driveway from uphill
- Cracks where a slab crosses from rock to fill
- Retaining walls that lean or weep
