Concrete Driveway and Patio Contractor in Lehi, Mesa, AZ
Long drives, horse lots and ditch banks along the river in Lehi.
Mesa · River and wash alluvium
Lehi is the north Mesa area along the Salt River where Mesa's first settlers arrived in 1877. The lots are bigger here, there's plenty of horse property, and irrigation ditches run along many of the streets. That shapes the work: long driveways from the road to the house, trailer and RV pads, barn aprons, a walk from the house to the stalls, and a patio that looks out over the pasture.
Working in Lehi
Lehi is the north Mesa area along the Salt River where Mesa's first settlers arrived in 1877, with larger lots, horse property and irrigation ditches along many of its streets.
The ground is river and wash alluvium, silt and sand that drain well but settle when they're wet or loaded and were never compacted. Trucks and horse trailers are heavy, so we compact the base in lifts and pour thicker sections where they park and turn. We keep ditch water and runoff out from under the slab. The City of Mesa handles permits, and we check its rules for your address.
River and wash alluvium
Layered silt, sand and gravel laid down by the Salt River and the desert washes, across the flood plains and alluvial fans of the central and west Valley.
Most river and wash soil drains well and swells very little. Its problem is settlement: loose, dry silt and sand that was never compacted packs down when it gets wet or carries a load, so slabs sink at corners and along tire lines. Close to a wash, monsoon runoff can also cut away the soil at the edge of a slab.
Compaction done in lifts at the right moisture, with loose or soft soil dug out and replaced, a thicker section anywhere a truck, trailer or RV will park, and grading that keeps runoff off the slab and out from under it. Washes and drainage easements stay open.
